If you happened to pick up the paper this past Saturday you might have seen an article written about preparing for the Warrior Dash in the Living Section.

Our gym had the great opportunity to be featured in the this article and spread the word about what real Warrior Dash training should look like!

You can check out the online version of the article here…

This morning was yet another fantastic training session that was focused on Warrior Dash training.   There was a mix of runs with a sandbag, bear crawls, crab walks, burpees, retaining wall climbing, and sit ups!  It was 28 minutes of pure sweat!

Everyone that came out this morning did a great job and we had 4 new faces join us in the fun!

Check out these Fearless Warriors Post Workout and notice the smile and sweat on their faces =)

Remember if you would like to join us next Saturday just send email [email protected] and reserve your spot today!

Let’s talk about Part II of mistakes people make that get them stuck in losing weight.

There are certain foods that are fine to eat but are prone to portion abuse. These foods are called the “domino foods” as eating one portion creates a domino effect of oversnacking. Sometimes fat loss and weight loss can plateau due to overeating on almonds which are easy to consume by the handful and simpel to excuse as nutritious but they also contain 824 calories per cup which is more than a Whopper at Burger King.

A few almonds is fine (5-10) but try to stop there and go no further. Think that you will only eat one cookie or a couple of potato chips? Not if there’s a bag of either in the kitchen. Self-discipline is hard to come by so most people should avoid all domino foods.

Even with no calories, most artificial sweeteners and natural sugars substitutes provoke increased insulin release. It has been shown that low-calorie and no-calorie sweeteners have been associated with weight gain.

So called sugar-free health foods are full of sweeteners such as concentrated apple juice and pear juices, which is 2/3rds fructose, which is arguably worse for you than even high-fructose corn syrup.  Raw agave nectar is as high as 90% fructose and shows no better antioxidant content than refined sugar or HFCS.

Skip the sweeteners whenever possible. If it’s really sweet, it probably spikes insulun or screws up your metabolism. Experiment with spices and extracts such as cinnamon and vanilla instead.
